Damages

Went and picked up my bike from the shop today, it was the first good look I've had at it since the accident. At first glance the bike appears to be in ship shape, save maybe the banged up left shifter. But upon closer inspection there are many signs of impact. Of course, every thing with as much as a scratch is going to get replaced, last thing I want is to end up as one of those Cozy Beehive posts

Better get that water bottle replaced - you don't want to know what happens when that fails.

Looks like the bike fared much better than you but repairs to a bike are pretty easy and I hope funded by the idiot driver in the smart car!? I would think the insurance company would be trilled to pay for the bike repairs given what the cost of repairing two cars after such a crash.

It looks like a crutch foot in there too; how's your recovery going?

Heard you are back on the bike, congratulations!

I'd push the insurance company for a full replacement bike, not just frame and damaged components. Just tell them that is the hit was hard enough to gouge the clear coat there's likely internal cracks to the carbon (crabon) fiber layers that could cause failure and they really do not want you suing them later.

Just hand them a price list for replacement bits - helmet, bike, shoes (biohazard), water bottle, shorts and jersey. It will be less that their costs to defend in even small claims court.

Wishing you a short recovery time.

...i agree w/ veloben 100% & i'd only add that you might enlist the services of someone like ron @ cozy beehive who would, i'm sure point you in the right direction regarding technical expertise supporting your insurance claims...

...cover your ass from the beginning & you'll get less bullshit from the insurance company...let 'em know you're well informed...
